Johnson City: Watauga Press, 1930 . First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. 508pp, 8vo. A good to very good copy bound in blue cloth boards. Gilt title on spine, top edge gilt. Printed in an edition limited to 750 copies from type. Signed by Williams with an inscription on ffep, "To Dr. Archibald Henderson, in appreciation of his own work in the field of --- history, and with the compliments of. Truly, Samuel Williams --- 1931." Additional gift inscription below from Dr. Henderson, who went on the gift the book to George William McCoy the year after, 1932. Foldout map intact and in fine condition. Pages and text block foxed. Henderson (1877-1963) 190 saw an amateur performance of George Bernard Shaw's "You Can Never Tell" and decided tha Shaw was not being appreciated. He contacted Shaw and became his official biographer culminating in 3 biographies 1911,1932, & 1956. He also penned numerous histories of North Carolina.
