OCLC Number 82011926 (3 locations) Examines the British National Debt in relation to Britain's expenditures during the American Revolutionary War and the then current French Revolutionary War. William Morgan, FRS (1750 - 1833) was a Welsh physician, physicist and statistician, who is considered the father of modern actuarial science. He is also credited with being the first to record the "invisible light" produced when a current is passed through a partly evacuated glass tube; i. E. , "the first x-ray tube". After his father's death Morgan left the medical profession and in 1774, on his uncle Richard Price's recommendation he was appointed Assistant Actuary of the Equitable Life Assurance Society. At The Antiquarian Book Shop, located in Georgetown - an historic neighborhood of Washington, D.C. we have been buying, selling & appraising rare, interesting and scholarly books in Georgetown for more than 30 years.
