Montreal: Desbarats & Co. Printers, 1901.. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine in red and grey cloth. Inscribed and signed by the author: "with the author's kind regards / D.C. MacCallum." Ink stamp on front and rear pastedowns. MacCallum (1825-1904), a Montreal surgeon and professor of obst etrics and gynaecology at McGill from 1868 to 1883, was founder and editor, with William Wright, of the Medical Chronicle from 1853 to 1859. MacCallum was one of William Osler's professors and Osler's first medical p u b l i c a t i o n s w e r e r e p o r t s o n f i v e cases of MacCallum's (see Cushing I, p. 71 and Bliss, p. 63). This present work is a collection of his addresses delivered to McGill medical students and faculty between 1860 and 1896..
