Maroon paper-covered portfolio with gilt stamped decorations and title over paper onlay on upper cover and 14 concertina-fold leaves, each with one or more captioned lithographic scene(s) or view(s). An 1898 gift inscription; board with mild soil and mild rubbing, mainly to edges; small offset abrasions affecting four leaves; Very Good.
Scarce lithographic view book of resort locations and hotels mostly in New York State and the Adirondack Mountains. The view book's 14 leaves fold out into a continuous strip showing 34 lithographic views with caption titles. Also seen are some views along coastal New England in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine.
New York views include Castle Garden, Coney Island, along the Hudson River, Ausable Chasm, the Fort William Henry Hotel and Paradise Bay on Lake George, scenes among the Thousand Islands, Niagara Falls, Keene Valley, Long Lake, and Saranac Lake. Other lithographs depict the beach at Newport, Rhode Island, Boston Harbor and Provincetown on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert, Maine.
