First Edition of a classic juvenile. The illustrated front cover colorfully depicts the Admiral gazing at a stork with a spyglass, a red roofed building in the background, dogs, an elephant, a camel, and a horse, with all colors bright. Reginald Birch provided copious black-and-white illustrations throughout. With bookplate of Carolyn Wells, prolific author, early bibliographer of Walt Whitman. Little soiled, else fine. Peter Parley to Penrod, p. 96.
