Blackie and Son Ltd, London, No date. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Fair. Illustrator: Geo. W. Blow -- Cover Art. 224 pages foreword by author. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, with the artist being credited with the letter " B ". Brown coloured boards with black writing on the front panel and spine. Bumping, rubbing and slight fraying to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the book corners. Shelfwear to the lower book corners. Browning and foxing to the paper edges. Browning to the endpapers along with some handling marks an internal pages have become age toned again with handling marks. Book Prize Plate has been affixed to the front paste down. Illustrated dustwrapper, by Geo. W. Blow, with orange and yellow writing on the front panel and black, white and yellow on the spine. Chipping and rubbing, with loss, to the dustwrapper corners and to the lower spine edge. The top 0.25 " of the spine has been chipped and lost and a previous owner has attempted to support this loss with tape, tape still in situ. Heavy rubbing along all creases of the dustwrapper. Staining to the rear fold over crease area and there is also a stain to the lower left-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. Rubbing and chipping to the top and bottom dustwrapper edges as well. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, the lower right-hand corner. Tape residue to the verso of the rear fold over panel and to the head and to the heel of the spine. The book is undated, but the Prize plate is dated 1954. Juvenile space-adventure novel written by an actual scientist. "His heroes are three boys who, because of their curiosity, find themselves aboard the Wonder Machine, adrift in the stratosphere and in touch with Mars." -- from the front fold over blurb.
