Orange cloth boards and spine with black lettering on spine and front board; emblem/seal on spine and front board in colors. Internal hinges are sound and not split or cracked. Deckled fore edge. Uncut papers. Advertisements in rear. 321 pp 8vo. This is the story of the waif/orphan Francois and his dog Toto. Francois is a choirboy/thief in Paris who with lots of charm and guile lives a life of picking pockets until the Reign of Terror when he by chance meets with the Marquis St. Luce whom he fights crowds with and gets him out of prison to a new life in the countryside and a possible meeting with the Marquis' daughter. A clean very presentable copy.
