Quarto : two volumes bound in one : pp. (2) vi, v-xxxv (1) 223 + (1, blank) viii 225- 439 (1) (12, Index) : 12 engravings designed by Stothard as called for, 9 with original tissue guards : contemporary leather boards with gilt border and gilded edges : recent leather re-back and gilt tooling : title panel lettered in gilt with gilt borders : borders and ornaments to other panels.
Previous repair to top corner top board; top edge of lower board has a long shallow dent; edges of block are toned; armorial bookplate of Charles Collins to paste down and different previous owner signature (Thomas Hardy - no, not the author) to f.f.e.p.; occasional light soiling; two of the plates have light water stains to lower corners.
