Pp. 216; cr. 8vo; blue cloth, spine lettered in black, edges of boards lightly faded and rubbed, top fore-corner of lower board bruised, the spine faded and slightly foxed, with damp mark near centre extending into lower board; dust wrapper, edges lightly rubbed and split, with a couple of paper repairs on reverse, the back panel slightly soiled; inked gift inscription (dated 1951) on upper pastedown, the free endpapers tape marked, a couple of spots of foxing; Latimer House Limited, London, 1948. *First published in 1883, after serialization in The Boys' Own Paper in 1880-81.
