About This Item
G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1959. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. 532 pages. Short stories, essays and articles by the writer who would go on to twice win the Pulitzer Prize. Mailer's fourth book. First edition (first printing). Near fine in a dust jacket with a short creased tear to the cover and a slightly longer one at the rear. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: 'To Don Kaufmann, I'm tempted to sign this as Howard Duff. Norman Mailer / Sept. '75.' With a signed handwritten note on a napkin by the author laid in answering his own joke: 'To Don Kaufmann -- I really should have signed this Norman Mailer. Howard Duff / Feb. 3, 1976.' The note previously housed in an archival slip that had been sealed with scotch tape which offset onto the front endpaper slightly affecting the inscription.
