About This Item
William Mullan, London and Belfast., 1879. First edition. Octavo. pp viii, 488. 15 illustrations; 2 coloured maps one of which is folding. 19th century binding of half dark brown leather with pebbled cloth boards, lettered in gilt on spine. The author's second book, being an account of her journey, together with her husband Richard Burton, to India in 1876. Some sections, most probably the ones on Turkey, have been attributed to Richard Burton who is also believed to have supplied some of the cartoons and caricatures. Arabia is dealt with more briefly although there is an interesting account of their visit to Jeddah. Cover edges a little scuffed. Front and rear blanks spotted. Very good.
