Publisher's red beveled coth with ornate and cunning cover illustrations stamped in gold (by WR), spine decorated in gilt and black, brown endsheets. All edges gilt. 244pp + ads. A splendid production, with 93 whole and half page text illustrations by Ernest Griset from etchings. Corners worn, slightly bumped, a very good, tight copy. Inscription to half-title "Janet C. Davidson... etc" dated 1872.
