About This Item
Arthur Barker, London, 1955. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Fair. Illustrator: Leo Hershfield. 160 pages, text illustrated with cute full-page line drawings. The dustwrapper is badly chipped and torn and worn, the top edge of the book is browned, the other edges less so, the front end pages have split showing the cloth beneath. Set in 1997-98, an illustrious author explores the changes to society, when humans developed tails. My favourite lines in this book are "the cat is disappearing as a household pet. Nothing fascinates a cat quite so much as a tail, even though it be his own. The zoologist have long known that a lioness teaches her cubs to be quick and accurate in pouncing by twitching her own tail and letting the cubs leap at it. A cat cannot leave a tail alone. Many of us have been unhappy witnesses on those occasions when a perfectly splendid dinner party has been disrupted by Pussy." (Okay so I have a dirty mind.) Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Leo Hershfield. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Humour; Fiction -- Science-Fiction; Inventory No: 0205614. .
