Volume one is illustrated with frontispiece and twelve plates. Volume two is illustrated with frontispiece and ten plates. Collated complete. The biography of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, an English poet appointed as poet laureate for much of Queen Victoria's reign. With accounts of his childhood, home life, work, and later years. Written by his son, Hallam Tennyson, a British aristocrat who served as Governor General of Australia from 1903 to 1904. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the board. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot and light age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpapers. Very Good
