About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1980. 1st UK ed. . Light Grey Cloth. Fine/Fine. 16 Cms x 23.5 Cms. xv+367, 16 pp.photo ills. ex-pagination, facs.diary entries on endpapers; near pristine copy, only fault I can see is hint of rubbing bottom sp. region (both cover and uncut jacket). Overshadowed by her brothers William and Henry James, Alice faced severe difficulties in establishing a viable identity and role for herself. Her diaries have been her principle legacy. Interesting from a women's history angle as well as for those interested in the James clan as a whole.
