About This Item

New York: Farrar & Rinehart, 1941. First Edition. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. [iv], 518p. Endpapers toned, cover edges and spine sunned, spine cloth torn and corners worn. Romanian Jewish-American Brinig shifts the locale of this novel to New York away from the Montana and West Coast settings of his previous novels. Although his earlier novels were praised by critics, this work about two women relating "[l]usty love and neurotic dreaming" received a less complimentary review by a contemporary critic who described the book as "often slow and wordy." [Daily News, New York, June 29, 1941] (8-5/8"x5-7/8")
