Comments: The author describes the life of a soldier in the early 19th century. Often illiterate they were badgered, bullied and harshly disciplined, living in squalid conditions. The account focuses on a group of recruits who were part of a crack cavalry regiment fighting in the Punjab against Indian Sikhs in the mid 1840s. . First Edition. Hard Cover.
