New York, New York, USA: Simon & Schuster, 2000. BX2 - A hard cover first edition withdrawn ex-library book in very good- condition. A sequence of numbers appears on back of the title page iwth the "1" present with no additional printings indicated. A tight, clean, sound copy in white paper covered boards quarter bound in light blue paper with metallic red lettering on the spine with very minor overall shelf wear plus the dust jacket endflaps are glued to the inside surfaces of the boards plus there are the usual library stamps and label on the top outside paper edges and front endpaper. The dust jacket shows no visible signs of wear plus the endflaps are glued to the inside surfaces of the boards plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. A novel about a 40 year old woman who lives alone and whose passion is books. Her mother's death causes her to retreat further and eventually flee her life because of her emotional turmoil. Another woman who is also fleeing her life happens to be on the same plane. The plane crashes, one of their bodies is not recovered and the other woman survives but horribly burned and with a seemingly permanent amnesia. At recovery, the survivor must accomplish a rebirth, without a memory. The author is a recipient of a fellowship from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts as well as the Capricorn Novel Award, awards from the Hackney National Short Story Contest and Hemingway Days plus she has been a Faulkner Pirate's Alley Novel competition finalist and twice an Iowa Short Fiction semifinalist. 234p..
