About This Item
London: Simpkin Marshall, 1853. xxvi and 28 pages. Frontispiece coloured lithograph of uniform, engraving of a table centrepiece presented to Lord Grantham. A very good copy in the publisher's blue straight grained cloth with badge and decorations in silver. Beautifully produced little book. The Yorkshire Hussars weren't short of a bob or two. When Earl de Grey and other officers decided that they needed a suitasble mess for their annual training fortnight, they had the de Grey Rooms constructed in York, a building whose front elevation has seven bays.
