About This Item
New York, NY, U.S.A.: Simon & Schuster, 1995. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 64mo - up to 3" tall. Equally uncomfortable with the expectations that family and society, Asian and non-Asian alike, have heaped upon them, 'lapsed' Chinese Raymond Ding and his beautiful, half-Japanese girlfriend Aurora Crane, try desperately--and comically--to fall out of love. Their dance of avoidance takes them through the perilous panorama of contemporary relationships, from arranged marriage to the politics of interracial dating, until they embrace the inevitable: that they are, as they appear, made for each other. Sexy, sophisticated, and hilarious, AMERICAN KNEES holds up a not entirely flattering, but ultimately forgiving mirror to multicultural society, redefining with grace and humor what it means to be ourselves and to belong. Fine, first edition, first printing, in fine, mylar-protected dust jacket. MLBS1
