New York: Chamber of Commmerce, 1878. Pamphlet. Good. 15 p.; 23 cm. Elliot Christopher Cowdin (1819-1880) was an American businessman; his firm imported ribbons, silks, flowers, and novelties from Paris. He served one term in the New York State Assembly beginning in 1876. In this speech he discusses the decline in American ocean steam trade since the beginning of the Civil War, particularly in relation to that of Great Britain. In Good Condition: lacking front wrapper; minor loss at upper corner of title page; shadow on lower corner of title page; otherwise, clean and solid.
