About This Item
USA: USA: The American Photograph Album, NO DATE ( Circa 1870-1875), 1875. ----------hardcover, some rubbing and flaking to leather mainly at tips and edges, a bit of foxing to interior pages but nothing too serious, some photos have old stamps on the rear (which helps establish an approximate date), a very nice photo album titled: The American Photo Album, about 5w x 6.25h inches ---25 photos within the book, a few are dated in the 1870's and most certainly look to be that time frame, a few have penned names on the rear, the majority of the photographers are upper New York State ( Rome, Oswego, Pulaski, one from Brooklyn etc), all are photos of people, tinting on at least one photo ( Miss Moira Ritter ?), ---Binding is very nice with embossed leather front and rear with gilt decoration and black bordering, front and rear covers each with 4 small white (celluloid?) buttons, nice gilt design on spine, two brass hinged clasps with very charming floral escutcheons are intact as are the clasp attachments on the front and rear boards, all three edges are embossed gilt displaying a nice stylized floral pattern, a sound copy which really is quite attractive, ---photographers include: McCormick and Co's of Philadelphia; Moulton & Dopp, Rome NY; M L Merriman, Copenhagen NY; Van Doorn, Brooklyn; H W Oliver, Rome NY; S S Richards Newark NY; E M Van Aken, Lowville NY; J S Hovey Rome NY; D W Grout Pulaski NY; Parker of Canastota NY (hand tinted); G W Carter (successor to E M Van Aken ) of Lowville NY; Oswego NY (photographer name is obscured by a patch of paper); Chamberlin of Norwich NY; H A Steele of Jackson Michigan; M L Merriman of Copenhagen NY; Fell & Son of Sandy Creek NY; Frank Kirby of Eldora Iowa; ---some photographers have more than one photo in the book, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo ///NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)---.
