New York: Amkino, [1939]. First Edition. Octavo; photo-illustrated bifolium printed offset in blue on white stock. Previous folds, light wrinkling from handling, else Very Good or better. Handbill promoting the American premiere of the 1938 Soviet film "The Conquests of Peter the Great," shown at the air conditioned Cameo on Broadway. The film, produced by Lenfilms, was based on a story by the novelist Alexei Tolstoy, directed by the hugely prolific Vladimir Petrov, and starring in the title role Nikolai Simonov. "Peter has returned to the screen! In new and greater exploits than before!...Lenfilm's new historical film about the lusty, swashbuckling Czar, tells the dramatic and spectacular story of the monarch who led Russia out of feudalism" (p.
