New York: Harper & Row, 1984. Hardcover. Small 4to. Brown cloth with gilt spine lettering, dust jacket. xiii, 283pp. Near fine/very good. Jacket spine sunned. Tight and sharp first edition of this study "of what can be done to improve the way of both business and government and their relationships with each other" -- boldly inscribed and signed in blue ballpoint on front flyleaf "For my friend Bob Malott / Irving S. Shapiro." Shapiro (1916-2001) was a prominent lawyer and businessman, well known for being the first attorney to become CEO of DuPont. Laid in is a Typed Note Signed from noted attorney William L. Lurie (1931-2017), 1p, 8½" X 11", New York, NY, 1 June 1984. On letterhead of "The Business Roundtable" of which he was long president, Lurie sends this book to Roundtable member Malott. Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago civic/business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist.
