1st printing of 1st edition (Dutton, 1898). Gray rib-grain cloth over boards with green, red and gilt designs and gilt titles on front cover and spine; tissue-guarded frontispiece. Bright, clean, square covers; lightly scuffed; small scraped or gnawed area along front cover tail edge; spine darkened with design and titles somewhat dulled; tightly bound; small gift inscription on front free end paper dated Xmas 1904; bright, clean interior; faint musty odor. 8vo, 219 pp; illustrated. This is the 2nd of Pierson's 'Among the People' series.
