Title page continued: "And a Dissertation on the Prophecies, in reference to the rise and fall of the beast, the cleansing of the sanctuary, the beginning and duration of the millenium, and the little season; together with a calculation shewing the exact time of the death of Christ, and, also, calculations shewing the precise time of the rise and fall of the beast, and the beginning of the millennium, &c. . . . Second Edition." Printed by John M. Gibbs. xii, 298, [2], 97, iii p.; 22 cm. Contemporary binding: leather spine with gilt-tooled spine title "Pearson's Analysis" and blue-, black-, and white-patterned paper over boards. Former owner's name on front fixed endpaper: LaMonte Sayler. A Dissertation on the Prophecies has separate title page and pagination. Published in Athens, Tenn., by W.P. Reid, but printed by Gibbs & Hoon. The author, Abel Pearson (1779-1856), organized Soddy Presbyterian Church, or Mount Bethel Presbyterian Church at Soddy, in Hamilton County, Tennessee, and he served as its first minister. In Good Condition: binding is rubbed with slight loss of leather at ends of spine; small loss of paper on lower part of back board; corners are worn; front free endpaper lacking; heavily foxed; a few pencilled marginal notations; faint dampstaining along edges of first few pages; pages are otherwise clean and tight.
