First Edition of the first anatomical atlas to be illustrated with lithographs. Cloquet was professor of clinical surgery and surgical pathology at the Medical Faculty of Paris. "The first anatomical atlas to be illustrated with lithographs was the magnificent folio by Jules Germain Cloquet.The 300 plates were published in fifty-one sections over the ten-year period between 1821 and 1831, and the lithographs were printed in the two first ateliers of Paris, both of which were founded in 1816. They were established by Charles de Lasteyrie and Godefroy Engelmann, who were among the pioneers of the lithographic art in France."
