About This Item
New York 2009. Artist and animator Lilli Carré creates this striking and singular adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's 1844 parable for all ages, about a little fir who is never content. Complaining about his small stature and certain he will finally be happy when he is as tall as the largest old firs in the forest, the Fir-Tree is cut down and taken to be a Christmas tree. He then misses his forest friends and wonders if he will always be decorated. When he is later tossed in a garret he misses the holiday festivities, and when he is taken out to the brush pile he misses the mice who befriended him in the garret. Carré imagines the tale in deceptively simple, expressive cartoon paintings., English, Year2009, Illust. B/W0, Illust. Color68, ISBN 9780061782367, Code 6538.
