About This Item

Edinburgh: The Porpoise Press, 1934. First printing. Very Good. The author provides an account of the political relations between England and Scotland during a hundred years (between the middle of the seventeenth and the middle of the eighteenth centuries), and this biography provides the necessary middle link between Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, and John Maitland, Duke of Lauderdale. It places a wholly honest man of simple character between two men who were not so honest and quite as certainly not so ingenuous. It forms the last volume of the trilogy, Red boards with writing to spine. Some fading to spine. Owner bookplate inside front board. Some foxing to first blank pages but internally clean. Binding tight. AB53
