Angle of Repose, Wallace Stegner. Published by The Franklin Library, Franklin Center, Pennsylvania, 1978. 8vo up to 9½" tall., 531pp., illustrated by Kenneth Francis Dewey. Full crimson leather with gilt titles to banded spine and gilt design front and rear; all edges gilt; moire endpapers with matching ribbon page marker. Smyth sewing and concealed muslin joints; printed on archival paper. Limited edition of the 1972 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction. A beautiful copy in mint condition. The Franklin Library Pulitzer Prize Series was a limited edition series of the 53 Pulitzer Prizes awarded to Novels from the first in 1918 through 1979. The series was published from 1975 to 1980. Synopsis
Angle of Repose is a 1972 Pulitzer Prize–winning novel by Wallace Stegner about a wheelchair-using historian, Lyman Ward, who has lost connection with his son and living family and decides to write about his frontier-era grandparents. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1972. The novel is directly based on the letters of Mary Hallock Foote, later published as A Victorian Gentlewoman in the Far West.
