About This Item

London: Chapman and Hall, 1918. Cloth. Very Good. 10" by 12". Eadweard Muybridge. A fourth impression of Eadweard Muybridge's important photographic and cinematographic study of muscular actions in motion. Eadweard Muybridge was a n English photographer, a pioneer in the photographic study of motion. He is best known for his work on animal locomotion in 1877 and 1878, which used multiple cameras to capture motion in stop-motion photography. This is the fourth impression of one of his most popular work, Animals in Motion, which comprises an important study in the history of photography and cinematography, with more than four-thousand high-speed shots of 34 different animals and birds, in one-hundred-and-twenty-three different types of actions. Originally published in 1899, it remains in print over a century later. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and a minor edge wear, some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The cloth to the spine has slightly faded, with some minor faint damp marking tot he rear board. With a previous ownership signature tot he front free endpaper, dated 1985. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with only the odd minor spot at the odd leaf. Illustrated with numerous photographs throughout. Collated, complete. Very Good
