Spine ends and corners worn, rubbing to front label, light soiling and rubbing to boards, hinges mended, else an internally clean, tight copy.

First edition, second state (with the 6th line from the bottom on p17 completed), binding state A. Baum's first novel for adolescent girls, issued pseudonymously under the name "Suzanne Metcalf." Will it be "Rags to Riches" or "Riches to Rags" when Annabel Williams, a beautiful young heiress, befriends Will Carden, a local vegetable boy from the wrong side of the tracks?
