Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1967 Stated first printing with extra ink drawing of Arthur and inscription by the author on the front endpaper. Above Arthur is a balloon, "Hi Marcia I'm sort of filling in for Lyle...My name is Arthur and I have almost as much Fun!" Beneath the drawing, "Love/Your good friend,/Bernie Waber/and/Your other good friend/Lyle". Jacket spine is slightly darkened, and there is a 1/2" by 1" chip missing at the rear fold. An attractive copy with an endearing inscription.
Synopsis
In a story told through his mother's eyes, Arthur is seen as a sometimes annoying, but always lovable, anteater.
