Hard cover in very good condition with deep beige boards, light beige spine cloth, silver gilt spine lettering and on front board silver gilt author's initials in silver edged embossed shield design. Interior text block clean & tight but for former owner's name written in large script on front free endpaper. 551 numbered pages. Dust jacket very good: overall light age toning, mild shelf and edge wear; no tears or chips; no price on front flap. Front flap has long narrow crease. Contains three sections of 4 leaves/8 pages each with glossy black & white photographs which are enumerated in list of the 50 plates. Also facsimiles of several letters, etc., and a detailed family tree.
