Man's search for his ancestry in words and pictures starting when a country parson stumbled upon what proved to be the skeletal remains of a prehistoric man in the Neandertal, a small valley in Germany in 1856, followed by Darwin's The Origin of the Species in 1859. 287 pages with 292 illustrations, 19 in colour. Book in near fine condition with previous owners signature on front endpaper. Dust jacket in very good condition with some small marks on flaps.
