About This Item
Washington: John C. Rives, 1856. First Edition. Hardcover. Poor. 4to 11" - 13" tall. This particular Appendix to the Congressional Globe is valuable for the perspectives it provides regarding the vexed question of slavery versus abolition for the State of Kansas. Covers present but detached, first signature present but detached, predictable age-toning to text, foxing, spotting, light soiling to endpapers, etc., and with punch-embossed signs of ex-library status, plus white call letters at spine, else a complete, still pretty sturdy text-block, clean and unmarked. Marbled paper over boards, brown cloth-backed and at tips. Scuffing to tips and extremities, predictable waffling to text-block, but signs of neither odor nor mildew. Absolutely indispensable for the user of primary documents in U.S. history. 1,307 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
