A letter from Thomas Fitzpatrick, Indian agent, Upper Platte and Arkansas from Bent's Ford on the Arkansas River, dated September 18, 1847. 30th Congress, 1st Session, Senate Document #1. He describes conditions along the Santa Fe Trail, gives suggestions on preventing raids on wagon trains. These are pp.238-249 of the report to the Secretary of War.
