About This Item

New York: Rinehart & Company, Inc, 1959. First American Edition . Hardcover (with Dust Jacket). Very Good. 8vo (434 pages; illustrated with black and white photographs; maps). This is a very good copy of the First American edition without dust jacket. The cloth cover is lightly soiled, and the front hinge is a bit loose, having been glued at some point. The front endpapers are stained near the gutter from the glue; else fine. The book covers Lee’s retreat from Petersburg and his final surrender.
