About This Item

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1940. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First edition stated; 4to, unnumbered pages, two color charcoal illustrations throughout; brown spots and darkening along joints, bookplate in front paste-down and gift inscription in front free endpaper dated 1940, internally clean and sound; dust jacket a bit tattered at edges with a couple of small chips out at bottom edge, a bit smudgy with some scattered foxing, now in protective mylar cover. Newberry's delightful story of the impossible task of choosing just one kitten was a Caldecott Honors winner.
