London and Cheltenham respectively: J. Buchanan and H. Davies, 1856. Book. Illus. by frontispiece plate of the author , with bow and arrow at the ready 5 plates plus text illustrations. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Original green cloth with gilt decoration and title on the front and the spine. Some wear at the spine ends and corners. All edges gilt Original pale yellow endpapers, with a prior owner signature on the back of the front loose endpaper. Inside, a hint of age toning, but no foxing or stains. A solid, quite scarce book by the author considered at that time to be the greatest author of all time. A pencil notation on the title page says he was also chamoion 1856 through 1859, after the publication of this book..
