Description

Little, Brown, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Dustjacket . 8x6x1. Two small dents to upper edge. Jacob and Noah Ingledew trudge 600 miles from their native Tennessee to found Stay More, a small town nestled in a narrow valley that winds among the Arkansas Ozarks and into the reader's imagination. The Ingledew saga--which follows six generations of "Stay Morons" through 140 years of abundant living and prodigal loving--is the heart of Harington's jubilant, picaresque novel. Praised as one of the year's ten best novels by the American Library Association when first published, this tale continues to captivate readers with its winning fusion of lyricism and comedy. Donald Douglas Harington (December 22, 1935 – November 7, 2009) was an American author and visual artist. All but the first of his novels either take place in or have an important connection to "Stay More", a fictional Ozark Mountains town based somewhat on Drakes Creek, Arkansas, where Harington spent summers as a child. Harington was inducted into the Arkansas Writers Hall of Fame in 1999 and won the Robert Penn Warren Award for fiction in 2003. He was awarded the Porter Prize Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
