Cottrell & Co London undated c1947 VG/G (lightly soiled dj chipped upper edge, green cloth with black titles on spine, faint scattering of spots front fixed endpaper, contents clean and tight) octavo 72pp. Written by ex-president of the British Dental Association, an exhortation to improve the deplorable dental health of the nation. With b/w illustrations. As new within book are several detachable sticky labels such as "STICK THIS NEAR YOUR TOOTHPASTE - When did I clean my tooth-brush last? Do I clean dirty teeth with a dirty brush?" "STICK THIS BY YOUR COSMETIC BOX - the care I devote to the outside of my mouth I should also give to the inside - it is only a question of whether I find it easier to make up my face than make up my mind", "STICK THIS NEAR YOUR BOOT-POLISH - if my boots deserve daily cleaning my teeth deserve the same - my teeth will have to last longer than my boots", in all 16 detachable labels. Also included within the book is un-dated typewritten 2-page SIGNED letter from the author describing why he has published this book, urging people to use the new national dental service, for if they do not the efforts of its inaugurators will be abortive. Also included is newspaper clipping dated June 1947 detailing the author's opposition to several aspects of the new Health Act due to come into force July 1948. A very scarce and unusual item.
