About This Item

New York, NY Alfred A. Knopf: Borzoi Bks, 1948. Hardcover First Edition [1948]; Second Printing [1952]. Scattered PENCIL MARGINALIA AND SPARSE UNDERLINING IN PENCIL throughout the text. Very Good in Fair DJ: The Book shows indications of careful use: light shelving wear along the bottom edge of the boards; the pages have tanned ever so slightly, due to aging. The binding remains square and quite secure, but the text pages are very slightly cocked within the square boards. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. The DJ shows heavy wear: chip loss; wear to extremities; faint, but pervasive soiling to the white background field of the rear panel; the price has not been clipped; mylar-protected. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (8.7 x 6.1 x 1.35 inches). xv, 417 pages, plus a 22-page Index. Weight: 1 pound, 7.4 ounces. First Edition [1948]; Second Printing [1952]. Hardback with DJ.
