Illustration of Fort at Lake Tanniscouta. A continuation in the events concerning the Aroostook War, a.k.a., "The Pork and Beans War." Maine and the United Kingdom feuded over establishing an international boundary line between Maine and the British Colony of New Brunswick. An actual "war" never occurred and the matter was eventually settled with The Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842.
