About This Item

Montchanin, Delaware: Cucumber Island Storytellers, 1996. First edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good/good +. Montchanin, Delaware: Cucumber Island Storytellers, 1996. First edition thus. Very Good/good +. Fred Birchmore's account of his 1935-1936 trip around the world on a bicycle, with reproductions of many photos he brought back with him from remote parts of the world. Birchmore tells of the people, architecture, governments, religions, culture, and foods all around the earth in a compelling, well-written record of his remarkable journey. This is a SIGNED copy of the book, with an inscription, on the page facing the title page. There was also a copy of a typewritten sheet found in the book, which gives an extensive amount of biographical information about the author -- his careers, his later travels. The book is in very good condition with very, very slight wear to the boards and one small spot on the outside fore edge of the pages. The jacket has some small chips and closed tears, and some wrinkles and creases. Now in removeable protective Brodart archival cover.
