About This Item

New York: Macmillan Company, 1979. First Thus. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Very Good. Leo Manso. Stout 8vo. Pp. xviii, 749. Illustrated with line drawings. Introductions by Clifton Fadiman and James Beard. Index. Grey cloth, titles stamped in gilt and decorations in copper foil on the spine: mild transfer to endpapers, moderate foxing to edges; remainder dot on top edge. In the illustrated dust jacket with price intact on the front flap: light scuffs, moderate foxing. Fisher's first five books: How to Cook a Wolf, Consider the Oyster, Serve it Forth, The Gastronomical Me, and An Alphabet for Gourmets. This collection was first published with Fadiman's introduction. Beard's "appreciation" is added to this edition. Though spotted by kitchen humidity, this is a serviceable copy of a culinary classic. Dust jacket preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
