Toronto: Cerebrus Publishing Company Limited, [1977]. First Edition, Limited to 325 numbered copies signed by Loates & Duval. Each volume required a total of 16 days to bind by hand. Special hand-mixed Hostmann-Steinberg high pigmented inks were used in order to retain the clarity and character of the original paintings. The original color lithograph, also signed and numbered in the same limitation by the Artist, was reproduced on American Etching, a 100% rag content sheet - there were no Artist Proofs taken. Upon completion of this Limited Edition, all working and supportive materials, plates and trial provings were destroyed in the presence of the artist and author. large folio. pp. 300. printed in Goudy Old Type printed on specially designed 100% rag, acid-free Cerebrus Parchment. numerous full-page illus. (many colour). original 36-color lithograph of a bison in separate linen portfolio. hand-bound in full gilt-stamped calf, top & bottom edges gilt, brown speckling on fore-edge. book & linen portfolio in matching linen slipcase, housed in a wood box with brass hinges, lock & key.
