About This Item
Melbourne: Macmillan Art Publishing, 2014. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Melbourne, Macmillan Art Publishing, 2014. Quarto, 216 pages extensively illustrated in colour. Papered boards lightly bumped at the head of the spine; faint streak to an unprinted area of page 193 (presumably a production flaw); an excellent copy with the excellent dustwrapper a trifle creased. The introduction is by Nicolas Rothwell; with a contribution by Marina Strocchi. 'This book features hundreds of paintings by the distinguished Alice Springs based artist known as Mrs Bennett. A special feature of the publication is the series of photographs showing Mrs Bennett's methods of production - with the various applications of paint and its distribution over the canvas that lead to her readily recognisable personal style. This is a lavishly illustrated account of Mrs Bennett's life and work and, as such, provides another important monograph dedicated to the achievements of individual Indigenous artists' (publisher's blurb).
