Cr 8vo, XXIX, 88pp. Hardcover in dark cream boards with blue title on spine and white price clipped d/w in very good condition other than minor chipping and browning of extremities with a very sound spine, now protected in clear archival covering, text in good condition with 72 illustrations (b/w photographs) and 2 diagrams with some browning of the fep's and a small bookshop stamp on ffep with no prior owner annotations or library markings present. This charming little primer is the seventh reprinting of a unique early instruction book by a famous expert of the time late of the 5th R.I. Lancers in two parts. Firstly with the various aspects of the art of riding and secondly succinct advice to both novices and experts regarding care and training of horses, including stabling, common ailments and "vices". An old book but it is still highly regarded in the sport literature.
