About This Item

Raleigh: North Carolina Museum of Art, 1978. First edition. Stiff Wraps. Orig. illustrated stiff wrappers. Near fine. 104 pages. 22.5 x 20.5 cm. Signed in ink on half title by Saliba Douaihy. Saliba Douaihy is considered to be one of the leading twentieth century painters of Lebanon. Douaihy developed a talent and passion from an early age. Douaihy was able to move away from strictly academic style into a radical modernist approach, making him one of the true pioneers of Arab Modernism. While living in New York, the artist became well acquainted with the Post-war Abstract Modernist founders such as Mark Rothko, Ad Reinhart and Hans Hoffman amongst others. Illustrated in color and black and white. Selected Collections. Exhibitions. Interior clean and very fresh. Slight rub spine head.
